Eyesore turned into movie set prior to redevelopment

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (CBS46) One of Atlanta’s biggest eyesores is in the spotlight again.

The property was purchased by Peacock Partnership several months ago, and the company has plans to revitalize the area. But before that happens, Hollywood has taken over.

New Harbin medical office building to be two-story, 40,000 SF structure

Plans for a new Harbin Clinic medical office building are now being reviewed by the Rome-Floyd County Building Inspection office.

 

Drafted by Peacock Architects, the new facility at the intersection of John Maddox Drive and Woodrow Wilson Way will be a two-story, 40,862-square-foot structure.

The new building, which is slated to house much of the Harbin women’s and children’s care programs, will include close to 50 examination rooms on the first floor of the building, which will feature more than 25,000 square feet of space. The second floor will have more than 15,000 square feet of working space.

UWG Plans Ribbon-Cutting for New Student Health Center

The University of West Georgia will celebrate the grand opening of its new Student Health Center. The new center, which has been officially open since the beginning of the spring semester, was built over the course of less than a year from groundbreaking to completion.

 

The joint venture with Tanner Health System will allow the university to better serve students with no increase in mandatory health fees. The 14,000-square-foot, $4 million facility provides more than twice the usable space as UWG’s former health services building. The new facility is located near the corner of Maple Street and the university’s west entrance, across the parking lot from Tyus Hall.

Tanner to Showcase Villa Rica Expansion

Saturday, Nov. 3, will likely be the public’s only opportunity to see the inside of one of the new, state-of-the-art operating suites at Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica — while upright and awake, anyway.

 

Tanner Health System is inviting residents from throughout Carroll, Douglas, Haralson and Paulding counties to see first-hand the massive new emergency department and surgical services unit opening this fall in Villa Rica. The open house event will be from 9 a.m. to noon. Visitors will be able to tour the new emergency department and surgical services unit before the new space opens for patient care later in November.

City Station Grand Opening set for June 23

City Station is a Community Center located at 2115 Maple Street on 8.51 acres less than a mile from the University of West Georgia and adjacent to the GreenBelt. Southern Hills Church will relocate here, but will only utilize a portion of the space primarily on Sunday mornings. The project is intended to benefit county residents and the region at large.
